Leigh Swint and Lexi Franklin both scored in both the sixth and seventh innings on Friday and Brooke Turner drove in three in the last two at bats in Danville as the Lady Bearcats pulled away for a 10-1 win.
It was 4-0 going to the sixth when Swint was hit by a pitch and scored on a double by Franklin. Franklin (shown on the basepaths in a game earlier in the week) later scored on a ground ball by Brooke Turner.
With two down Joleigh Tate was hit by a pitch and Hayley Lunsford singled. Both scored on a misplayed off of the bat of Caroline Smithson and it was 8-0.
A two-out single plated a run for Danville in the bottom of the sixth.
In the seventh, with two down, Swint and Franklin both singled and scored on a double by Turner that made it 10-1.
The Lady Bearcats (13-1, 4-0 Conference 3A-4 South) jumped in front 2-0 in the first inning on run-scoring singles by Swint and Franklin.
With two down in the top of the third Turner and Tate singled and a Danville error that allowed Lunsford to reach scored both runners for a 4-0 lead.
The Lady Bearcats stranded a pair of runners in the fourth and left the bases full in the fifth before pulling away in the final two innings.
Franklin was in control throughout in the circle, allowing just four hits and walking two while striking out 11 Lady Little Johns.
The Lady Bearcats were set to face Atkins in a nonconference game today but the game was cancelled due to the threat of severe weather. The game will not be rescheduled.
