Scoring 126 points , the Booneville Junior High Bearcats won Bearcat Relays at Bearcat Stadium Thursday, getting by runner-up Waldron by 10.5 points.
Hunter Warren was the high point award winner for the meet.
The meet has originally be planned for March 3, but was rescheduled due to the state basketball tournament.
Meanwhile led by meet high point award winner Ellie Smith, the Lady Bearcats were scoring 125 points of their own, but had to settle for the runner-up finish to the 134 scored by Mena.
The Bearcats won five events including running a 47.70 in the 4x100-meter relay with Conner Droemer, Dakota Mattson, Clayton Loftin (Mattson is shown handing the baton to Loftin), and Warren winning by 1.13 seconds.
Warren was also the winner in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.98 with Mattson taking fifth in the event at 25.88.
Both throwing event were won by Demari Poole. He launched the shot put 42’ 9” , a full 3’ 8.5” ahead of second place teammate Warren at 39’ 0.5”. Poole tossed the discus 139’ 7” with Josh Redmond was sixth in the event at 109’4”.
Trevor Karow’s 10’ 6” pole vault was tops at the meet and teammate Loftin tied for fifth at 8’.
Karow also had a second in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.09 and he was tied for seventh in the 300 meter version of the event at 52.0.
Warren took second in the 100-meter dash at 11.81 and Mattson was fifth at 12.44. Chase Shelton was sixth in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.15.
The Bearcats also had two athletes place in each of the jumps. In the long jump it was Droemer second at 17’ 5” and Warren sixth at 17’ 4.1”.
In the triple jump it was Loftin fourth at 36’ 3” and Conner Lentz seventh at 32’ 7”. In the high jump it was Mattson fourth at 5’ 6” and Wesley Fonseca was tied for sixth at 5’ 2”.
The 4x200-meter relay team of Lentz, Loftin, Droemer, and Shelton was third at 1:40.63; and the 4x800-meter relay group of Parker Smith, Nathaniel McKinney, Rhett Nietert, and Foseca was seventh at 10:50.
Girls
The Lady Bearcats won four events with Ellie Smith taking the long jump at 15’ 5” and Angie Brown winning the triple jump at 30’ 3”.
Presley Walker won the 300-meter hurdles at 55.84 was also third in the triple jump at 29’ 1.5”. Adisyn Hill took third in the in the 300-meter hurdles at 57.00.
The remaining event win was the 4x200-meter relay where Allie Siddons, Anna Ferguson, Smith, and Novalee Lindstrom ran a 1:58.
The Lady Bearcats also had five second place finishes in the meet with Smith responsible for two of those running a 13.41 100-meter dash, and a 29.36 200-meter dash.
Ferguson was second in the 400-meter dash at 1:07.31 and Lyddia Franklin was second in the 100-meter hurdles at 18.32 with Ferguson eighth at 19.37.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Walker, Ferguson, Emily Wooldridge, and Lindstrom was also second at 4:50.16.
Smith added a third and Lindstrom a fourth in the high jump with both clearing 4’ 10”, and the 4x400-meter relay team of Siddons, Smith, Ferguson, and Lindstrom was third at 56.67.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Christina O’Neal, Natalei Rhodes, Vanessa O’Neal and Hill was fifth at 12:18 and Rhodes was also fifth in the shot put at 32’ 7”.
Shelbie Myers was sixth in the shot at 32’ 5” and added an eighth in the discus at 68’ 8”.
