High point award winner Hunter Warren scored 39.5 points over the six event limit to lead the Booneville Jr. Bearcats to a win in the 3A-4 District Track Meet Thursday in Waldron.
The Bearcats amassed 241 points to win the meet over Waldron, who had 198.
Warren scored first place finishes in both the 100- and 200-meter dash races. He ran the only sub-12 second 100 (shown) at 11.88 and his 200 time was 25.45.
He was part of a third event win, running a leg of the 4x100 which circled the track in 48.12, 2.26 seconds ahead of the second place quartet.
Warren also took second in the long jump at 18’ 9” and the shot put at 40’ 3.75”.
Warren's remaining point came from an eighth place in the 400-meter dash at 1:01.23.
Field Events
The Bearcats owned the field with wins in four events.
Demari Poole won both the shot put at 43’ 10” and the discus at 145’ 9”. The Bearcats also picked up points in the discus from Josh Redmond placing third at 107’ 11” and Zaine Penny sixth at 96’ 7.5”.
Trevor Karow won the pole vault with what is believed to be a meet record 10’ 6”. Jace Washburn took third in the event at 8’ 6”, Clayton loftin was fifth at 7’ 6”, and Dylan Todd was sixth at an even 7 feet.
Dakota Mattson won the high jump clearing 5’ 9” and the Bearcats also had two jumpers tie at fourth in Wesley Fonseca and Oliver Loaeza, who both cleared 5’ 2”. Conner Lentz also cleared the height but was tied for sixth in the tiebreaker.
Points in the long jump came from Conner Droemer fifth at 18’ 1.5”, and Chase Shelton eighth at 17’ 8.5”.
In the triple jump it was Loftin third at 37’ 4.5”, Washburn fourth at 37’ 3.5”, Droemer fifth at 34’ 1.25”, and Shelton seventh at 33’ 10.25”.
Hurdles
Karow scored a second event win by taking the 300 meter event at 48.55 with Washburn second at 49.31, and Loaeza sixth at 51.16.
Washburn won the 110 meter event at 18.55 with Lentz third at 20.01, Karow fifth at 20.05, and Loaeza sixth at 20.86.
Sprints
Also placing in the 100-meter dash was Mattson third at 12.50 and the 200-meter dash placers were Mattson fourth at 26.43 and Lentz sixth at 26.50.
Shelton added a seventh in the 400-meter dash at 1:01.16.
Distance
In the 800 meter run the Bearcats got a sixth place from Fonseca at 2:31.39, seventh from Sean Pennington at 2:37.87, and eighth from Levi McMaster at 2:38.62.
The 1600 saw Taylor Shaver run fifth at 5:35.14 and Pennington seventh at 5:36.17.
Relays
Joining Warren on the winning 4x100 meter relay were Droemer, Mattson and Loftin.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Mattson, Droemer, Lentz and Loftin also took first at 1:43.30.
The 4x800 meter grouping of Rhett Nietert, Nathaniel McKinney, Fonseca and Parker Smith took second at 11:04.16; and the 4x400 meter squad of Washburn, Todd, Loftin, and Fonseca closed out the scoring with a second at 4:21.54.
