BEARCAT BASEBALL SEASON ENDS IN STATE TOURNAMENT

The Booneville Bearcat baseball season came to an end in the Class 3A state tournament with a 10-0 loss to Harding Academy Thursday.

The Bearcats (16-8) and Wildcats played the opening game of the tournament at Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison Thursday morning.

It was a good start as Brooks Herrera reached after a wild throw to first but Herrera would be the only base runner of the day for the Bearcats.

Herrera (7-2) also drew the start on the mound for the Bearcats and saw an error play into the first Harding run before getting out of the first down 2-0.

The Wildcats used a hit batter, a walk, a couple stolen bases and a fly ball for a third inning run to make it 3-0 and parlayed a couple of hits into a 5-0 lead through four before ending the game early with a big fifth inning.
