Bearcat Golfers Finish One Shot Back

The Bearcat golf team came up one stroke short in the first tournament on their home course Thursday.

Senior Brooks Herrera led the Bearcat field with a 40 in the 9-hole event at Cherokee Creek Country Club. Junior Rylen Ray and Sophomor eJace Washburn both shot a 43 for a team score of 126, which was one more than Charleston’s 125, led by a low round 39.

Mansfield was the only other school with at least three golfers and had a team score of 160. Paris was represented by two players.

The Bearcats had nine golfers on the course. The trio of Senior Brett Welling at 45 and Senior Peyton Tatum and Sophomore Noah Harrel both at 46 were just out of the scoring.

Also on the links were sophomores Macolen Tillery, Colt Cobb, and Landon Ritchie.

On the girls side there was again just one Lady Bearcat on the course. Senior Leigh Swint posted a round of 48, which was third overall, four strokes off the pace.

The Bearcats are scheduled to travel to Waldron tomorrow and will host another event at Cherokee Creek on Thursday.
