Since posting a career best 39 in Pottsville on August 8, Leigh Swint had posted a couple rounds in the mid-40s.

That changed on Thursday when she birdied three holes and shot a 36 on her home course of Cherokee Creek Country Club.

After starting on the number 6 hole, Swint would birdied the par-5 number 9.

She followed that up with a birdie on the par-4 number 2 and completed the round on par-3 number 5 with another birdie.

The Lady Bearcat team score was a 156 with Angie Brown shooting a 59 and Mary Haynes, Riley Broussard, and Alisa Rogers all shooting 61.

Charleston posted the lowest team score with a 146 and Atkins shot a 164. Paris and Waldron were also represented..

The Bearcat golfers were led by Brooks Herrera who was under 40 as well with a 38.

Completing the Bearcat team score of 121 was Ry Ray with a 41 and Jace Washburn with a 42.

Ray, head coach Jaake Fennell said, had one hole that prevented him from challenging Herrera for the low round (he was second) and Washburn was six over through four holes but rebounded to shoot par the rest of the way and had the fourth best score.

Noah Harrel also shot a 46 and Colt Cobb a 47 for the Bearcats and Landen Ritchie and Macolen Tillery were also on the course.

The Bearcats were 11 strokes clear of Waldron and 12 better than Charleston. Mansfield and Paris were fourth and fifth. Atkins was also represented.
