BEARCAT VOLLEYBALL SET FOR HOME OPENER

The Bearcat volleyball team will open the home portion of the schedule tonight when the face Clarksville.

There are four games on tap with the Jr. A and B teams, the JV, and the Varsity Bearcats taking the floor.

The Bearcats dropped their season opener in Mena last night but were competitive in each set, falling 25-14, 25-16, and 25-16 to a school ranked in the Scorebook Live’s inaugural top 25 in the state.

“The problem is we were leading in every game. I think we were the first to 10 in all three but we let them catch up and then let one server serve six straight points,” said head coach Bailey Stringer, who was trying to beat her alma mater. "Mena was getting frustrated because we were scoring so many points from the low block."

Stringer was also very happy with the play of her sophomore libero.

“Lilly Downs (shown during the Purple-White match) had an amazing game,” said Stringer. “I had four people come up to me and say how well she played.”

The Junior Bearcats were equally competitive but also lost in straight sets, 25-16 and 25-15.
