With a pair of double-digit service runs the Booneville Bearcat team posted a sweep (25-13, 25-12, 25-8) of Green Forest for a Conference 3A-4 win Tuesday night.

After breaking serve to go up 14-12 Lilly Downs took over serving. She stayed on serve the rest of the set.

Downs started it with an ace and had a dig that led to a point to make it 15-12. A pair of kills by Ellie Smith and a failed return made it 18-12 and induced a Green Forest time out.

A kill by Kylie Lunsford was followed by three straight aces by Downs and another time out with the score 22-12.

Smith had another kill to make it 24-12 before a failed return closed the set.

In the third set, with the Bearcats up 7-4, Karmen Kent was set to serve but was lifted for Farrah Stringer. Stringer stayed on serve through 17-4.

The run included a key dig by Teagen McMaster, a block by Emma Mikles, and a kill by Smith before a dig try by Downs went off over Stringer’s leg and out of bounds.

Downs had another ace to make it 21-6 and a dig that led to the point making it 23-6.

Lunsford drove home a kill to leave the Bearcats a point away and a wide serve ended it at 25-8.

The big runs came after the Bearcats had taken a 1-0 lead, riding a seven straight service point run with Kent triggering the action. Kent had three aces in the run.

The match started with kills by Smith, Lunsford, and Kent before an ace by Sara Ulmer made it 4-1.

It was 8-6 before a dig by Downs led to a kill by Emma Mikles and three Camdyn Dove aces later it was 13-6.

The Bearcats will next be in action on Thursday against Lincoln at Bearcat Gymnasium.
