Herrera Posts Low Round At Cherokee Wednesday

Brooks Herrera shot a 9-hole 40 to win individual honors in a tournament held at Cherokee Creek Country Club yesterday.

Herrera won the event by two strokes over Charleston and Waldron golfers ,but three Tiger golfers combined for a 128 (42, 43, and 43) which was six strokes better than the Bearcats.

The Bearcat 134 team score came from Herrera, along with sophomores Noah Harrel and Jace Washburn shooting a 44 and a 50, respectively.

The Bearcats edged Waldron by a single shot. The Bulldog scores were a 42, 46, and 47.

Mansfield was the only other team with a full contingent and posted a team score of 159.

Hackett, Lamar, and Paris were also represented in the boys division.

Landon Ritchie, Macolen Tillery, and Colt Cobb completed the Bearcat contingent on the course.

In the girls division it was Leigh Swint shooting a 43, three strokes off the pace and the Lady Bearcats were one of only two teams with at least three golfers.

The Lady Bearcat team score was a 165 featuring Swint and a pair of 61 rounds from sophomores Mary Haynes and Angie Brown.

Alisa Rogers and Ellie Smith were also on the course for the Lady Bearcats.

Charleston won the event with Waldron, Lamar, and Paris also represented.

The Bearcats will next hit the links today in Ozark.
