The Bearcat tennis season is already winding down. In fact the Bearcats will host Jessieville in the final scheduled regular season match on Thursday.
The Bearcats played on Monday at Marcelle Phillips City Park against Mulberry and won eight of 10 matches including a pair of singles sets wins by Tyler Ray, 6-1 and 6-2.
Noah Harrel also won a singles match, 5-0.
In doubles play the Lady Bearcats swept three sets. Mary Haynes and Harley Fitzjurls teamed up for a 6-2 win and Haynes teamed with Tempi Terry in a 6-1 set win.
Lexi Franklin and Carah Miller also won a set 4-2.
In boys doubles it was Aiden Carter winning sets with two different partners. Carter teamed with Hunter Warren in a 6-2 set and Carter and Raygon Harger were paired together in a 6-5 set win.
Mulberry was able to earn a doubles win over Harrel an Harger and a singles win over Angie Brown.
On September 8 the tennis team split singles matches but took three of four doubles sets from Atkins opponents.
Linley Garrett and Franklin won their doubles set 6-3, which was the same score Haynes and Fitzjurls topped their opponents. Haynes and Terry also won a 6-2 set.
Harrel topped his singles foe 6-2 and in the girls division Brown took care of her opponent 6-3 and Miller scored a 6-2 win.
Atkins netters won over Ray in boys play and over Miller and Brown in girls play as well as a boys doubles set against Carter and Jace Washburn.
When the Bearcats met Thursday’s opponent in Jessieville earlier this year the most success came in doubles play where the girls got set wins from Haynes and Miller, 6-0, and Franklin and Garrett, 6-1.
Franklin and Garrett salvaged a split with that win after a 3-6 loss.
Harrel and Carter also scored a 6-2 set win in boys play.
Jessieville won six of seven singles sets, including two which were boys against girls.
Brown was the exception for the Lady Bearcats, picking up a 6-0 set win.
