Shaver Earns Medal In Acorn

Taylor Shaver earned a medal in the junior boys division of the Tom Stuthard Stampede cross country meet hosted by Acorn Tuesday.

Shaver (shown in an earlier meet) ran to a 10:19.7 for a 13th place finish – there were 121 runners in the division – to lead the Bearcat junior boy contingent.

Despite missing Sean Pennington, who was one place behind Shaver in the season opening run in Magazine, there were four other junior high Bearcats were on the course with Hunter Pollard the second to finish for the Bearcats.

Caden Miller, Carson Smoker, and Cooper Lentz also completed the 2400-meter run.

In the junior girls division, where there were 117 runners and Zayla Honey finished 26th with a time of 13:09.1. Phoebe Adair was also in the top half at 52nd and was the only other junior Lady Bearcat to run.

All junior high runners are eighth graders.

Natalie Blankenship was the lone senior high runner for a 5K. Blankenship ran a 34:09.1.

The cross country squad will next run in Mena on Tuesday.
