IT'S GAME DAY

It's Game Day

GLENN PARRISH

Booneville School District | 9/23/2022

The Booneville Bearcats haven’t been away from Bearcat Stadium in September. Since opening the season at Dollarway (Pine Bluff) on August 26, the Bearcats have had two home games and an open date.

The Hackett Hornets haven’t seen a team from Arkansas in September. After a season opening loss to Centerpoint on August 26, the Hornets played a pair of Oklahoma schools in Pocola and Panama then had an open date.

Both of those trends will end tonight when the Bearcats travel to south Sebastian County to take on the Hornets in the Conference 3A-1 opener for both schools.

One trend the Bearcats hope will not end tonight has been running a little longer. Booneville comes into the game having won 35 straight conference games and five straight conference titles.

The Bearcats were projected as the 3A-1 conference champion in a Hootens.com poll conducted during the offseason. Hackett, who won eight games in 2021, was forecast as the three seed out of the league.

The Hornets come into tonight’s game 1-2 and rested after having an open date last week. The Bearcats are 2-1 after absorbing a loss to Harding Academy last Friday.
