The Bearcat volleyball team will attempt to complete a Franklin County sweep today when they host Ozark tonight.

The nonconference match comes on the heels of four straight road conference matches, the final of which was to Charleston last Thursday.

There the Bearcats dropped the first set then won three straight to pick up a fifth conference win and avenge a loss in their 3A-4 opener, a match that was also 3-1 but one the Bearcats had opportunities to take.

In the later stages of the first set Emma Mikles began to assert herself with a block and a kill.

In the second set after a kill by Ellie Smith made it 5-3 Mikles had blocks on successive points and teamed with Laney Parish for another.

From there, there would be a kill and an ace by Kent, another kill by Parrish and after a block by Sarah Ulmer and an ace by Camdyn Dove, it was 14-5.

Another Smith kill pushed the lead to 18-7 and prompted a time out but Charleston goot no closer than 10 the rest of the set, which ended on a block by Ulmer.

The third set was a battle that saw neither side lead by more than three.

Parrish had three kills in the first 13 points and had another to cut what was once a 12-9 lead to one of 12-11 for Charleston.

An ace by Kylei Lunsford and a Parrish/MIkles block tied it at 14 and the score would be tied again at 15, and 20.

Following a time out by Coach Bailey Stinger with Charleston leading 21-20 Lunsford put a return into a opponent's lap and a kill by Kent started a run that saw the Bearcats go in front 24-21.

Charleston took the next two points but Kent pushed home the set winner.

The fourth set was 5-3 in favor of the Bearcats after a block by Mikles sent Smith to the service line.

Smith delivered an ace and stayed on serve through a run to 12-3. The run included kills by Kent, Parrish, and Mikles.

A kill by Kent would push the lead to 15-4 and the Bearcats were comfortably ahead most of the rest of the way.

It was 21-12 after a tap kill by Mikles but Charleston would cut it to 23-15.

A play that saw a dig by Lilly Downs, a set by Kent, and a kill by Smith got the Bearcats to 23-15 but Charleston battled to within 24-17 before a long return ended it.

After facing Ozark today the Bearcats will host Paris tomorrow.
