The Booneville Junior High Bearcats needed just 19 plays to run for 309 yards in a 43-6 drubbing of Greenland Thursday at Bearcat Stadium.
No back had more than five carries or the 68 yards by Hunter Warren led the way with as the Bearcats stayed perfect both in Conference 3A-1 play, 3-0, and overall, 6-0.
Conner Lentz was the first to do damage. Two plays after recovering a Pirate fumble Lentz went 19 yards for a touchdown.
Warren ran for his first to two two-point conversions to make it 8-0.
Greenland managed a first down on its next possession but a couple of tackles involving Clint Osborne forced a punt that netted zero yards and the Bearcats had the ball at the Pirate 35.
Conner Droemer (shown) went 27 yards for a touchdown and Warren added the two for a 16-0 lead with 2:14 left in the opening quarter.
Droemer finished with 60 yards.
The third possession belonged to quarterback Rhett Nietert. He rumbled 46 yards on the final play of the opening quarter then covered the last 12 yards of the drive on two second quarter runs.
Oliver Loaeza came on to add the extra point to make it 23-0 7:14 before halftime.
Another short field set up the Bearcats for more points and Lentz, on what would be his second and final carry, scored from the 1 to make it 30-0 with Loaeza’s PAT.
The Bearcats actually had a chance to score again before the half but Nietert was dropped at the Pirate 1 following a mishandled snap on the final play of the half.
The second half saw the big plays.
Warren went 54 yards for a touchdown on the first play of the third quarter and Loaeza’s kick made it 37-0 and started the sportsmanship running clock.
Greenland got on the scoreboard on the first play of the final quarter on a screen pass that went for 23 yards and it was 37-6.
Following the kickoff there would be another one-play Bearcat drive, this one a 66-yard Levi McMaster run, made it 43-6.
The Pirates returned the ensuing kickoff into Bearcat territory but a Robert Musgrove interception would end the threat, and the game.
The Bearcats will be on the road next week at Mansfield. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
