Backed up in their end of the field on the opening possession of the game, the Booneville Seventh Grade Bearcats forced a turnover.

Charleston, which had four first downs on that opening drive, would have just two more in the game and the Bearcats (6-1, 5-0 Conference 3A-1) took a 22-0 road win.

They did so with Caiden Poore running five times for 162 yards and two touchdowns.

Charleston had 69 yards of offense on their first drive and finished with 101 as Braxton Hubble had two sacks and

Poore (shown) went 75 yards for a touchdown on a third-and-5 after Hayden Daniel forced a Tiger fumble into the end zone which Sadler Miller recovered.

A two-point conversion try failed and the score remained 6-0 the rest of the first half.

The Bearcats crossed midfield with their next possession but saw an illegal block penalty wipe out a long gain and eventually turned the ball over on downs.

Poore got loose on another third down three plays into the second half and went 48 yards for a touchdown. Callen Montalvo ran for the conversion to make it 14-0.

Montalvo started the next Bearcat possession with a 15-yard gain and Daniel finished it with a run of 30 yards for a touchdown. Montalvo’s second conversion run made it 22-0 midway through the second half.

Daniel ran five times for 52 yards.

Brody Strain broke up a pass on the final play of the game to make sure the shutout remained intact.

The Bearcats will next play at home on Thursday against Lavaca. That starts a busy stretch run that will see them play three times in eight days, with games against Pottsville on Monday, October 31, and the season finale the following Thursday.
