The Booneville Junior High Bearcats put the finishing touches on a perfect season with a dominating 39-8 win over Cedarville in the season finale at Bearcat Stadium Thursday.

They did so with four different players running for touchdowns and another scoring defensively. They also scored nine extra point via a kick and four two-point conversions.

It was 31-0 by halftime although the Bearcat (10-0, 7-0 Conference 3A-4) had just 122 offensive yards.

But their first touchdown came on a drive of just 4 yards – Conner Droemer had returned a punt to the Pirate 4-yard line.

It was Clayton Green (20, above) with his first touchdown of the season to start the scoring. Oliver Loaeza was set to attempt a point after but after a snap issue, Clint Osborne (12) instead threw to Triton Halpaiin and it was 8-0.

Starting from the Pirate 39 after a turnover on downs the Bearcats pushed the lead to 15-0 on a 22-yard run by quarterback Rhett Nieteret (10) and a PAT by Loaeza.

Nietert had thrown for 29 yards to Chase Shelton (9), two downs before taking off for the touchdown on the final play of the first quarter.

The lead grew to 23-0 on a 13-yard run by Shelton and Nietert two-point conversion with 3:11 to play in the first half. The drive had covered 67 yards but took just five plays.

Cedarville managed a first down on their next possession then went to the air with less than two minutes left in the half. Loaeza picked off a pass and returned it 54 yards for a touchdown.

Nietert ran for a second two-point conversion to make it 31-0.

Droemer started the first second half drive with a run of 34 yards and he added a run of 14 yards, but once the drive reached the Pirate 10 the Bearcats turned to Seth Wilson.

Wilson, who has been a team leader on both the offensive and defensive lines all season, went 10 yards for a touchdown on his first carry of the year.

Wilson, who had eight tackles, also got the ball for a two-point conversion try and delivered to make it 39-0.

Cedarville avoided being shut out with a touchdown run, along with a two-point run with under four minutes to play.
