The Booneville Junior High Lady Bearcats got off to a good start in Hector Thursday night but problems with a press and foul issues made for a difficult road assignment in a 37-21 loss.

The Lady Bearcats (1-1) scored nine unanswered after Hector scored the first points of the game. Haylee Taylor hit a pair of free throws and a 3 in the run.

But Tempi Terry (shown) was called for her third foul before the quarter ended and Hector greeted the Lady Bearcats with a press to start the second quarter.

After Hector scored nine unanswered, Taylor got behind the press for a layup to tie it at 11-11 but Hector pulled out to an 18-12 lead going into halftime.

Just 10 seconds into the third quarter Raelynn Franklin picked up her third foul and the Lady Wildcats built a 29-15 lead through three quarters.

Franklin would finish the night with six points and Taylor scored eight to lead the Lady Bearcats.

The Bearcats (1-1) had a productive second quarter that included a Dakota Fonseca 3 and four points from Conner Droemer.

Reed Brackney would also score four in the game.
