Last week Booneville won its 76th playoff game in school history.
Last week Booneville won its 760th game in program history.
The math is, obviously, easy. One in 10 wins ended an opponent’s season.
This week’s opponent is well aware. The Bearcats and Seminoles are meeting for the third time in five years.
Two years ago Osceola saw its season end in a second round game in Booneville, 10-7, when now senior Brett Welling made a fourth down stop at the Bearcat 1 late in the game.
Ironically, the game was played the day after Thanksgiving due to an expanded playoffs created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2018 the Bearcats beat the Seminoles 35-0 in the Class 3A state title game in War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
Friday will mark the second meeting between the two schools in Mississippi County – the first was a second round game in 2008 which Osceola won.
Osceola, the top seed out of the 3A-3 reached the quarterfinals by beating Perryville 20-14 in the opening round and smashing Camden Harmony Grove 48-7 last week.
The Bearcats, second seeded from the 3A-1, reached the round of eight by taking down Junction City 42-14 in the opener and Smackover 60-14 last week.

THIS DATE IN BEARCAT FOOTBALL HISTORY: The Beractas are 3-4 all time in games documented to have been played on November 25, including 1-2 in playoff games.
On November 18, 1988 the Bearcats met Gurdon on a neutral site at Beebe and won 17-14 in a game that included a 38-yard field goal by Roger Olsen. Then the longest, it is now the second longest playoff field goal in school history. That game also featured a 91-yard scoring drive with Barry Catlett providing the touchdown.
In a Thanksgiving day game with Paris on November 25, 1955 the Bearcats got a 70-yard punt return touchdown from Cliff Green and a 60-yard interception return touchdown from Bobby Tomlin on the way to a 34-0 win.
