Sophomore Lily Downs made a such a splash during the recently completed volleyball season she was recognized as All State by the Conference 3A-4 coaches.

Downs took over the job of libero from the start of her first year of senior high play and helped lead the Bearcats to the Class 3A state tournament for the second straight year.

“Lily Downs is a completely different athlete from junior high to senior high,” said Head Coach Bailey Stringer. “She took a huge step forward with her performance at the senior high level that was noticed throughout the conference.”

Downs and the Bearcats were third in the regular season and recorded an 11th win in the district tournament.

Down was also one of four All Conference players for the Bearcats.
Classmate Ellie Smith was selected, as were seniors Laney Parrish and Karmen Kent.

“Hard work doesn’t go unnoticed,” Stringer said. “These BHS volleyball players were named all-conference due to their performance and skill competing in a very tough conference. It is fun to listen to other coaches brag about our girls.”

Kent was also recognized as All State Tournament for her play during the state tournament.
