The Booneville Lady Bearcats took out some frustration on Waldron Tuesday night.

Snapping a three game skid the Lady Bearcats outscored Waldron 26-0 in the first quarter of the 9th Bearcat Classic opening round and coasted to a bruising 69-20 win.

Using a smothering defense, the opening quarter saw 14 Lady Bearcat steals. Leigh Swint accounted for five of them and Lexi Franklin four. Carah Miller had two, Layla Byrum got one as did Karmen Kent, and Roni Tillery added another.

Swint also scored 10 first quarter points. She would double that for the night and was one of just two Lady Bearcats in double figures with Franklin being the other with 11.

Waldron got on the board with a free throw 20 seconds into the second quarter.

By halftime there had been eight Lady Bearcats in the scoring column.

The eighth was Ciara Smith who gave the Lady Bearcats a 36-6 lead with a minute to play in the half.

By the time it ended that was up to nine all but one having at least four points. Linley Garrett (shown) was third in scoring with eight.

Smith led the Lady Bearcats in rebounding with six and Garrett added five. Tillery contributed five assists and Franklin added three.

The lead reached 40 at 48-8 on a 3 by Swint on her final points of the night and it was 47 after a conventional three-point play by J.J. Keatts.

Angie Brown scored twice in the final quarter and a 3 by Keatts closed the night for the Lady Bearcats.

The Lady Bearcats move on to the tournament semifinals at 6:40 Thursday against Dover, who beat Danville earlier last night.
