For the second straight year the Booneville Lady Bearcats won the Battle on the Border tournament in Arkoma, Okla.
They did so with little resistance from Mulberry in the finals, winning 51-15.
Mulberry scored the first points of the game after some confusion but the Lady Bearcats scored the next 13 points.
Five different players contributed in that run with only Leigh Swint, who would be named the tournament MVP, scoring more than once.
Linley Garret had a 3 in the run and hit a second 3 before the quarter ended and the Lady Bearcats led 18-6.
By halftime Angie Brown joined in the attack with a free throw and the Lady Bearcats led by as many as 19 and were still up 27-11 at the intermission.
The Lady Bearcats scored the first 10 points of the second half as well.
Swint completed a 16-point game in the third quarter and Lexi Franklin threw in a 3 at the quarter buzzer to make it 46-13 and she would be finished with 12 points.
Carah Miller also scored twice in the third quarter and finished with seven points.
Karmen Kent accounted for all five Lady Bearcat points in the final quarter and finished with nine.
Boys
With 4:12 to play in the first quarter Noah Harrel dropped in his second 3 of the night and the Bearcats led Heavener, Okla., 6-2.
The Wolves scored the next 17 points and went on to dominate the finals 55-16.
After the early lead the Bearcats did not score from the field again until the third quarter.
The only point from that point to halftime was a free throw by Colter Fisher, who left the game with an injury but had returned. Fisher was named to the all tournament team.
Harrel would score twice in the final quarter and led the Bearcats with 10 points.
