Droemer Completes Junior Bearcat Rally In Win Over Two Rivers

Late in the third quarter a 3 pointer gave Two Rivers a 29-16 lead over the Booneville Junior High Bearcats.

It would not be a big enough lead as the Bearcats rallied to win 33-32 with Conner Droemer sinking the final basket with nine seconds to play.

That wrapped up a four game sweep on the night for the home teams.

The Gators led 12-1 after a quarter and were up 14 in the second quarter and appeared to be in complete control.

After it was 29-16 Tayden Washburn hit a 3 for the Bearcats to make it 29-19 on the ensuing possession and that’s how the third quarter would end.

Washburn hit another 3 with 5:05 to play to make it 29-22.

It stayed that way until Hunter Warren kicked a rebound to Droemer for a 3 to make it 29-25 with 2:42 to play – Two Rivers had missed four free throws in the interim.

Droemer got a steal and was fouled on a drive to the basket and hit two free throws to make it 29-27 before the Gators finally got a pair of free throws with 59.5 to play to make it 31-27.

Droemer got a free throw to make it 31-28 and Two Rivers got another single and missed an opportunity after a lane violation and settled for a 32-28 edge with 53 seconds to go.

The Gators got another opportunity after a collision and a ball out of bounds on the extra shot but again couldn’t score.

Washburn was fouled on a rebound and hit a free throw to make it 32-29 with 34.6 seconds to go.

A Gator one-and-one front end miss was rebounded by Warren and Droemer went to the line after a foul and hit two to make it 32-31 with 17.3 seconds to play.

A travelling call gave the ball back to the Bearcats with 13.1 to go and, on an inbound from Conner Lentz, Droemer weaved his way around three defenders to drop home the winner.

Girls

The Lady Bearcats were in control form the opening tip in a 43-8 win.

Tempi Terry converted a conventional three-point play to start the scoring and the Lady Bearcats went on to score the first 36 points of the game.

Terry converted another and-one opportunity in the first quarter and Presley Walker scored twice and it was 14-0.

With Anna Ferguson scoring five second quarter points the lead grew to 29-0 by halftime, with Terry throwing in a 3 at the buzzer.

The third quarter belonged to Haylee Taylor who hit thee 3s and scored 11 of her 13 in the quarter to share game-high scoring honors with Terry.

7th Grade

The seventh grade Lady Bearcats were locked in a tie at 6-6 in the second quarter before a Chloe Walker basket made it 8-6 at the half.

That started a 10-0 run on the way to a 16-8 Lady Bearcat win.

Walker scored twice more in the third quarter – she finished with 10 – and the Lady Bearcats were up 14-6.

In the Boys game the Bearcats scored the first 16 points of the game and cruised to a 23-11 win.

It was 23-3 after Sadler Miller reached double figures with 10 and Two Rivers scored the next eight points.

All four teams will be back in action at home against Danville starting at 5 on Thursday.
