Lady Bearcats Start Fast, Dominate Danville

The Booneville Lady Bearcats jumped to a 12-0 lead Friday night against Danville and led throughout on the way to a 56-26 victory to stay unbeaten in Conference 3A-4 play.

The game opening run, which was accomplished in 3:43, saw five players log points with Linley Garrett and Layla Byrum both hitting 3s.

Garrett drew the start for the injured Lexi Franklin and would finish with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Danville cut the Lady Bearcat lead to 13-7 in the final minute of the opening quarter but the Lady Bearcats, behind seven points from Miller, went on a 9-0 run to start the second quarter and coasted from there.

Miller matched Garrett with 12 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Leigh Swint scored the first five points of the second half and after a conventional three point play by Karmen Kent the lead grown to 32-11.

Kent scored four more points in the third quarter and finished with 11 and nine rebounds.

Ciara Smith started the fourth quarter scoring and the Lady Bearcats also got contributions from Roni Tillery and Angie Brown to push the lead to the sportsmanship rule level.

Their regular season conference game winning streak at 21, the Lady Bearcats will next play at home on Tuesday against Cossatot River.
