Dax Goff won the long jump and was second in both the triple jump and shot put to lead the Booneville Bearcat track team to a runner-up trophy in the Class 3A state indoor meet Saturday.
With Goff accounting for 26, the Bearcats amassed 90.5 points in the meet to comfortably finish in second ahead of Jessieville in the meet held at the Randall Tyson Center on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville.
Goff cleared 21 feet in the long jump (6.4 meters) to win the long jump for the second straight year. He covered 41’ 1” (12.52 meters) in the triple jump. The surprise might have been was the 40’ 11.75” shot put on his final attempt.
The Bearcats also picked up a second place in the 4x800-meter relay with an all freshman grouping of Parker Smith, Chase Shelton, Nathaniel McKinney and Conner Droemer with a time of 10:22.54.
Placing third for the Bearcats were Brooks Herrera in the 60-meter dash (7.34), Trace Hall in the 200-meter dash (23.76), and Dakota Mattson in the high jump at 6 feet.
Mattson also took fourth in the 400-meter dash (58.39), and Hunter Warren was fourth in the 200-meter dash (23.88). Wesley Fonseca tied for fourth in the high jump at 5’ 4” and another freshman relay team of Droemer, Shelton, Levi McMaster and Oliver Loaeza was fourth in the 4x400 at 4:06.23.
Hall took fifth in the 60-meter dash (7.48) and Jace Washburn picked up a fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.51. Fonseca also scored a fifth place finish in the 1600-meter run at 5:19.69.
Taking sixth was Hall in the long jump at 17 feet (5.18 meters). Loaeza went seventh in the 400-meter dash at 1:01.13, and Junior Quick was seventh in the 3200-meter run at 14:36.66.
Fonseca also scored a point with an eighth place 800-meter run at 2:37.69.
Girls
The Lady Bearcats accumulated 18 total points, with Lyddia Franklin leading the way by running second in the 60-meter hurdles at 11.27.
Christina O’Neal was fifth in the 800-meter run at 2:57.39 and Mia Perez was sixth in the shot put at 20 feet.
Adisyn Hill scored a seventh place finish in the 400 with a time of 1:13 and Allie Siddons was eighth in the 60-meter dash at 9:18.
