The Bearcats (17-10) are the four seed after last week’s Class 3A Region 1 tournament in West Fork.
After beating Elkins to open the tournament the Bearcats fell to Charleston 59-49 on Friday night and to Bergman 69-27 on Saturday afternoon.
Against Charleston the Bearcats opened a 10-2 lead in the first 3:13 of the game but the Tigers were able to tie it at 10-10 by the end of the first quarter.
Charleston actually made it a 10-0 run and took the lead on a couple of free throws 6:44 before halftime but Jace Washburn tied the game and a 3 by Colter Fisher gave the Bearcats the lead back.
The Bearcats maintained the lead until the final buzzer of the half when a 3 made it 24-22 in favor of Charleston.
A pair of C.J. Johnson free throws tied the score early in the third quarter and the Bearcats and Tigers exchanged the lead 10 times in over the next 4:35 of the quarter before Charleston turned a one point lead into one of 46-41 over the final 31 seconds of the quarter.
A Johnson basket cut it to three and a Raiden Ferguson free throw had the Bearcats within 46-44 with 6:53 to play but Charleston scored the next six points and led by no less than six the rest of the night.
Fisher scored 15 to lead the Bearcats and Johnson added 14. Noah Harrel also scored nine.
Against Bergman Saturday afternoon the Panthers scored first but Ferguson answered with a 3 for a short lived 3-2 lead.
The Panthers scored the next 18 points and were eventually up 28-5 at the end of the first quarter.
Ferguson went on to score eight first half points, which would lead the way for the Bearcats.
