The Booneville Bearcats saw their basketball season end at the hands of Dumas in the opening round of the Class 3A state tournament being hosted by Lamar.
The Bearcats answered an early 3 with C.J. Johnson cutting to the basket for a layup on an assist from Colter Fisher but the Bobcats scored the next 16 points and were in complete control throughout.
There was a bright spot in Johnson (shown). The senior hit five first half 3s and scored 17 points. Fisher had the assist on the first four and Raiden Ferguson on the fifth one.
Dumas led 43-20 at the half with the only Bearcat points not scored by Johnson coming on a 3 by Dakota Mattson.
Noah Harrel got into the scoring column with a 3 in the third quarter and Fisher managed four points in the quarter as well.
Ferguson closed out his Bearcat career with a basket in the final quarter and the Bryce Eaves scored for the second straight game for the Bearcats.
The loss ends a season in which the Bearcats and a district tournament.
