Dax Goff highlighted a 15-run second inning with a grand slam and the Bearcats beat Lamar 21-1 in Lamar Tuesday night.

Goff was 3-for-3 with a pair of home runs and seven RBI in the five inning win.

Originally scheduled for the Billy Kiersey Baseball/Softball Complex but was moved to Lamar, the site of the Class 3A state tournament, where the Bearcat basketball team was playing earlier.

The Bearcats (1-1) jumped on Lamar 4-0 in the top of the first with Goff smashing a two run home run, Matt O’Bar chasing Peyton Tatum home with a ground ball and Dunn Daniel scoring on a passed ball.

Daniel, and Rhett Nietert, who was aboard when Goff hit his first home run, both scored three times.

Taking advantage of a pair of Bearcat errors and a hit, the Warriors got a run back against Tatum (1-0) in the bottom of the first, but also ran themselves into two outs on a double steal that went Tatum to Nietert for the out at second and Nietert back to Goff the out at the plate.

Tatum threw three innings allowing just one hit and one walk, and striking out four. Goff and O'Bar both logged an inning.

The Bearcat second inning started with Parker Smith reaching on a strike out on a wild pitch and Dylan Todd being hit by a pitch.

Before the inning ended there would be four hit batters, six walks, a couple of errors, a run scoring single by Nietert, along with Goff’s run scoring single and grand slam.

Reserves logged most of the at bats from that point and freshman Conner Lentz recorded a two hit game.

Ten different players were credited with an RBI. Besides the seven by Goff, driving in two were David Hicks, Nietert, and Todd; and Brooks Herrera, Cody Elliott, Clint Osborne, Tatum, O’Bar, Daniel, and O’Bar.

The Bearcats are scheduled to play at Perryville on Thursday but weather forecasts do not appear favorable. An originally scheduled Friday game with Subiaco was moved to April 17.

The Bearcats are scheduled to play on Monday at Morrilton
