The Booneville Lady Bearcats were unable to string together hits in a 3-0 nonconfernce loss to Mena at home on Friday.
The Lady Bearcats (2-1) managed five hits, including back-to-back hits by Layla Byrum and Leigh Swint in the bottom of the first but both were stranded.
Lyddia Fanklin (shown), the only Lady Bearcats with two hits, led off the third in what was still a scoreless game with a single but was still at first when the frame ended.
Lexi Franklin (1-1) surrendered a single and a double to start the Mena fourth but was able to pitch out it with fly ball a play at home, and another picked off to keep it scoreless.
She was not as fortunate in the fifth when a pair of walks, an error, a single, and a double led to all three runs that would score in the game.
Lyddia Franklin and Roni Tillery had back-to-back singles with two away in the bottom of the fifth but were stranded and the Lady Bearcats would not have another baserunner.
The Lady Bearcat are back at it today against Waldron before returning to Conference 3A-4 play on Tuesday against Hackett. Both games are at the Billy Kiersey Baseball/Softball Complex.
