Waldron used a pair of bunts and an error to jump in front but the Lady Bearcats led 9-1 through two innings on the way to a 15-1 win over the Lady Bulldogs Monday at the Billy Kiersey Baseball/Softball Complex.

Layla Byrum (shown) was 4-for-4 with two runs batted in and Roni Tillery, Leigh Swint, and Karmen Kent had a pair of hits. Kent was especially dangerous with two down.

With two down in the bottom of the first Kent delivered a two-run single to give the Lady Bearcats (3-1) the lead, and a seven run second put the game away.

In the second inning it was Farrah Stringer drawing a walk and Pressley Walker singling to start the inning. Both scored on a single by Tillery and after Byrum singled, Leigh Swint singled in two more and it was 6-1.

Continuing her two-out run production in the third Kent tripled home a run for her third RBI of the day and she scored on a single by Cameron Parish and Parish scored on a single by Stringer to make it 9-1.

The Lady Bearcats got a run scoring double for Byrum, a run on a loose ball, and a third on an infield hit before one was down in the third and it was 12-1. A bases loaded walk drawn by Springer made it 13-1.

Byrum completed a perfect day with a fourth inning second run-scoring double and Swint drove in her third run of the day with a single to make it 15-1.

Lexi Franklin (2-1) had thrown the first four innings of the day with 10 strikeouts but gave way to Bella Crabtree for the final inning and Crabtree struck out another in the final inning.

The Lady Bearcats are back on the diamond today hosting conference foe Hackett. The two played a 1-0 game last season which Hackett won then met in the district tournament finals in a game the Lady Bearcats won.
