Goff Sets Triple Jump Record, Is High Point Of Bearcat Relays

Dax Goff set a new meet record in the triple jump and won the high point award in Bearcat Relays Monday night at Bearcat Stadium.

Goff’s triple jump covered 42’ 10” for the only event win for the Bearcats in a field that included a pair of 5A schools in De Queen and Alma.

Goff’s remaining points came from a second place in the long jump (19’ 4”), third place in the 100-meter dash (11.44), a seventh place in the shot put (37’ 4.5”) and running a leg on both of the second place the 4x100- (46.59) and 4x200-meter relay (1:36.32) teams along with Dakota Mattson, Cody Elliott, and Trace Hall (shown after taking the baton from Goff in the 4x200.

Mattson and Hall also both had big days for the Bearcats, who scored 87.5 points on the day.

Hall was second in both the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.31, and the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.06.

Mattson tied for fourth in the high jump, clearing 5’ 8”, and was sixth in the long jump at 18’ 9”. He also ran eighth in both the 100 at 11.71 and 200 at 25.11.

Jace Washburn scored in three events as well with fifth place marks in both the 110-meter hurdles at 18.33 and 300-meter hurdles at 47.38, and was seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 36’ 8”.

Trevor Karow picked up a fifth place in the pole vault with an even 10 feet, Colter Fisher tied for sixth in the high jump at 5’ 6”, and Elliott ran eighth in the 400-meter dash at 58.03.

The remaining points came from the sixth place 4x800-meter relay team of Dakota Fonseca, Juan Buigues, Marcos Mullor, and Aiden Carter.

Girls

The Lady Bearcats top performance came from Ellie Smith, who went 15’ 4.5” in the long jump for second place and the 4x200-meter relay team of Linley Garrett, Beverly Harrison, Allie Siddons, and Adisyn Hill also taking second with a time of 2:03.88.

The same quartet was also th:ird in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 57.96.

Hurdle events saw two Lady Bearcats in fourth place with Franklin doing so in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.26 and Hill matching the finish the 300-meter hurdles at 57.28.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Siddons, Shelbie Myers, Harrison, and Hill was fifth with a time of 5:13.19, and Myers placed eighth in the shot put with a distance of 28’ 2”.
