Junior Bearcats Win Weather Shortened Meet In Mansfield

The Junior High Bearcats won a weather shortened Mansfield Junior Tiger Relays yesterday. The Bearcats were up 12 points when the rest of the meet was canceled during the boys 100-meter dash.

By then the Bearcats had won three events with Chase Shelton taking the triple jump (38’ 6”) and Hunter Warren winning both the shot put (41’ 1”) and the long jump (19’ 8”).

Warren was awarded the high point award and was a favorite to win the 100-meter dash had it been completed.

Conner Droemer was second to Warren in the long jump at 18’ 4” for one of his four placements. Droemer was third in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.18, third in the high jump at 5’ 4”, and seventh in the triple jump at 34’ 1.5”.

Also scoring points for the Bearcats were Seth Wilson placing fourth in the shot put at 38’ 6”, Clayton Green fifth in the discus at 101’, and Nathan Wilcox seventh in the pole vault at 7’.

Finally the Bearcats got a fifth place from its 4x800-meter relay team of Parker Smith, Sean Pennington, Junior Quick, and Levi McMaster with at time of 10:37.54.

In the junior girls division the Lady Bearcats had a pair of second place finishes in the throws with Harley Fitzjurls second in the discus at 71’ 7” and Brooklyn Phillips second in the shot put at 31’ 6”. Fitzjurls was also third in the shot put at 31’ 4”.

Alana Helms was third in the high jump at 4’ 2, and Anna Ferguson placed in three events including fourth in the pole vault at 7’, seventh in the 110-meter hurdles at 19.08, and eighth in the long jump at 13’ 2”.

The Lady Bearcat 4x800-meter relay team of Cora Nichols, Vanessa O’Neal, Christina O’Neal, and Abigail Schlup was also fourth with a time of 12:33.84.

Senior High

On Tuesday the Bearcats scored 30 points in the Tiger Relays in Mansfield with Dakota Mattson leading the way, winning the high jump by clearing 6’ 1”.

Mattson was also fourth in the long jump at 19’ 5” and seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.86.

Trevor Karow placed third in the pole vault at 10’ 6”, Josh Redmon was fourth in the discus at 95’ 1”, and Frank Gil took seventh in the shot put at 36’ 3”.

The Lady Bearcats managed 20 points in the meet with a top finish by the 4x100 meter relay team (shown during Bearcat Relays) of Linley Garrett, Beverley Harrison, Angie Brown, and Allie Siddons placing second with a time of 57.22.

The 4x200-meter relay team of Garrett, Brown, Siddons, and Adisyn Hill was also third at 2:05.37.

Brown placed sixth in both the triple jump at 28’10” and the long jump at 13’ 10”.
