Limited to four hits the Booneville Lady Bearcats fell to Class 4A Pea Ridge 4-2 on Thursday at the Billy Kiersey Baseball/Softball Complex.
Leigh Swint accounted for half of the hits, including a double in a scoreless game in the fourth that sent Layla Byrum (shown in a prior game), who had beaten out an infield single, to third.
Lexi Franklin followed with a sacrifice bunt for a 1-0 lead. Ellie Smith singled to score Swint to make it 2-0.
A two-out double in the Pea Ridge fifth cut the lead in half and the Lady Blackhawks used two singles and an error to tie the game in the sixth, although a Karmen Kent relay to Byrum to Roni Tillery cut down a would be go-ahead run at the plate to end the inning.
Another two-out double in the top of the seventh got Pea Ridge its first lead – runners were aboard via a walk and a base hit – at 4-2 and the Lady Bearcats went quietly in the bottom of the inning.
The Lady Bearcats (9-6) are back at it today against another northwest Arkansas power as Lincoln visits for a 5 p.m. game.
