FERGUSON WINS HIGH POINT, LADY BEARCATS WIN MEET IN DARDANELLE

With Anna Ferguson winning high point the Booneville Junior High Lady Bearcat track team prepared for next week’s District 3A-4 meet by winning the Junior High Sand Lizard Relays yesterday in Dardanelle.

Ferguson won both the 200-meter dash (13.49), and the 400-meter dash (1:04.90) in Dardanelle. She was also second in the pole vault, clearing 8 feet. The freshman also picked up a third in the long jump at6 13’ 11”, and a fifth in the 100-meter hurdles at 19.40.

Alanna Helms and Christina O’Neal also won events for the Lady Bearcats, running a 13.49 to win the 100-meter dash and O’Neal a 2:46.00 in the 800-meter run.

Helms was also second in the high jump clearing 4’ 8”. Also placing second was Brooklyn Phillips with a launch of 32’ 7” in the shot put.

Taking third place were Abby Schlup in the 800 (2:50.85), Helms in the long jump (13’ 11”), and Harley Fitzjurls in the discus (75’ 2”).

Also third were the 4x400-meter relay team of Makinley Ensey, Taylor Villarreal, Tempi Terry, and Christina O'Neal (5:08.07) and the 4x800-meter relay team of Christina O'Neal, Tiffany O'Neal, Schlup, and Vanessa O'Neal (12:13.00). The 4x100-meter relay team of Helms, Kailey Resch, Novalee Lindstrom and Zoie King was fourth (56.85).

King also took fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 59.86. Placing sixth were Lindstrom was fifth in the long jump at 13’ 10” and Fitzjurls in the shot put at 29’ 11”.

Rounding out the 125-point performance by the Lady Bearcats were King in eighth in the 100 hurdles in 19.64 and Schlup eighth in the 300 hurdles in 1:02.59.
