SWINT HOMERS, TILLERY DRIVES IN FIVE, FRANKLIN STRIKES OUT 600TH

Leigh Swint had two hits including a home run, Roni Tillery had three hits and five runs batted in, and Lexi Franklin struck out nine, including the 600th of her career as the Booneville Lady Bearcats pounded Waldron 18-2 Monday.

The game was scoreless for two inning but the Lady Bearcat took advantage of a dropped third strike to score the game’s first run.

A ground out by Layla Burym plated a run, her first of three RBI, and, after Swint doubled, one of six Lady Bulldog errors allowed another run to score to make it 3-0.

The Lady Bearcats (12-9) scored 13 times in the fourth. Errors allowed a pair to score before a double by Tillery got two, a double by Bryrum got one and Swint’s two run home run (ball shown with Swint) made it 10-0.

Ellie Smith drove in one with a ground out – the first of the inning – another error scored one, a single by Tillery made it 13-0, a bases loaded walk to Byrum made it 14-0, another error scored a run, and a fly ball by Lexi Franklin made it 16-0.

Tillery drove in two more in the fifth with a single for an 18-0 lead.

With one already aboard In the bottom of the fifth, the Lady Bulldogs got a break when a strikeout victim reached rather than end the game. After a walk loaded the bases consecutive hit batters drove in runs before Lexi Franklin’s ninth strikeout of the day ended it.

Also posting multiple hit days were Kylie Lunsford and Karmen Kent, both 2-for-4, and also having a multiple RBI day was Lyddia Franklin with two.

The Lady Bearcats are back in action today taking on Class 4A power Gentry.
