FRESHMAN WINS HIGH POINT AWARD IN SENIOR HIGH DISTRICT MEET

Freshman Anna Ferguson won her third district track meet high point award in Waldron Monday night and she and her teammates won the meet for the third straight time.

Ferguson was the high point award winner as an eighth grader in the junior high district meet Waldron hosted last year. She won it again as a freshman, again in Waldron, though Waldron is no longer in the conference.

The hat trick came as a member of the senior high team with Waldron again serving as the meet host.

Ferguson scored 54 points Monday night by winning the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.09, the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03.84, and the pole vault clearing 8’ 6”.

She was second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.88, the long jump at 14’ 10.75”, and the triple jump with a distance of 30’ 9.25”.

Those 54 points matched the second place team. Often placing two to four athletes in the top eight of the individual events, the Lady Bearcats accumulated 284 points and won five over events. The Lady Bearcats also swept the relay events.
