The Arkansas Activities Association released classification assignments for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 playing cycle yesterday.
Based on enrollment, the Bearcat football program ranked 47th among the 48 Class 4A schools.
The numbers released Thursday do not include placement of the state’s private schools, who are rated both by enrollment and a competitive equity formula which can advance or recede the school in classification.
The largest football 4A school according to the numbers, would be Dardanelle at an average of 471.33 students in grades 9-11 over a three year cycle.
Other area schools in 4A include Ozark (432), Pottsville (402.67), Mena (396.67), Waldron (339.33), Dover (293.67), and Lamar (285.33).
The BHS average was 255 with only Glen Rose smaller at 249.67.
The enrollment difference between the top and bottom of the 48 Class 4A schools is 221.66 students, while the difference in the 48 Class 3A schools is 99 (149-248) and the difference in the 24 Class 2A schools is 77.67 (70-147.67).
For all other sports the numbers leave Booneville in Class 3A, ranking 18th of the 60 teams in the classification.
The difference in average enrollment among the Class 3A schools in other sports is 118.67, while the difference in the top and bottom of Class 2A is 69 students and the difference in the top and bottom of Class 1A is 96.33. The difference in the top and bottom of 4A is 305.67.
