Doc Crowley let everyone know he is still unbeaten in All For One Day.

“That’s back-to-back,” he said after a photo was taken of the winning team, though noting he was not a team coach in 2022.

The third installment of the event was held Wednesday morning with events held throughout the Booneville School District athletic facilities.

The event, organized by Athletic Director Josh Walker in 2021, is designed to get all athletes in grades 7-12 together for a day of team building and fun through, of course, athletic based competitions.

Prior to the Wednesday's games Walker reminded, as he has in each year of the event, the athletes that the title of Booneville Schools athlete holds them to a higher standard, both in their classrooms and in the community.

As such the slogan and or hashtag of “Best Is The Standard,” for district athletes, to go along with the often used #bearcatsalltheway.

Named for part of a huddle call that originated in the 1980s – All For One, One For All, Bearcats All The Way – the event featured about 200 athletes.

The athletes were both partially assigned – senior high athletes – and randomly assigned – junior high – to five different district coaches tabbed as head coaches.

Besides Crowley and the runner-up team coached by Jake Fennell, Bailey Stringer, Darby Ulmer, and Cody Harrel were coaches.

The end result is there are athletes of all ages and sports thrust together some playing for a coach they will not play for, more easily fostering the “All For One,” mantra.

This year’s event was expanded to include a mental aspect of puzzle solving in the cafeteria to go along with the new addition of basketball-bowling/bleacher running on one gym court. On the other gym court was a weight based workout topped with a left handed layup.

In the safe room it was volleyball serving ladder hops and bear crawling. There was more weight work including sleds and still more running, with team members positioning their bodies to spell C-A-T-S in the fieldhouse.

The top two teams, Crowley’s Purple team and golf coach Fennell’s Pink Team moved on to an obstacle course with a medicine ball, bear crawling and a sprint to a giant slip and slide to complete the event.

Crowley’s final participant finished as Fennell’s final runner was about to complete the obstacle course.

The athletes were then served a lunch of hot dogs, chips and water and will return to their normal summer work on Thursday in preparation for their respective season(s).
