GOLF TEAM TO PLAY FIRST MATCH TODAY

The 2023 athletic season begins at 3:30 p.m. today when Head Coach Jake Fennell’s golf team will tee it up in Waldron.

The Bearcats are the defending conference champions and boast a roster of 13 boys and five girls, the later being up from just one who participated in last year’s district tournament.

Included on the boys side are Jace Washburn and Rylen Ray from last year’s district tournament winning group, as well as Noah Harrel, Colt Cobb, Landen Ritchie, and Macolen Tillery who played in 2022.

The roster also includes seniors Dax Goff and Colter Fisher though football is likely to conflict with some dates for the two as well as Washburn and Ray.

For the girls, the roster includes Mary Haynes, who did play some dates in 2022, as well as senior Kylie Lunsford.

The 2023 season includes nine matches including the district tournament, which will again be hosted by the Bearcats at Cherokee Creek Country Club.

The Bearcats will travel to Pottsville tomorrow and host their first match at Cherokee Creek on Monday, August 7.
