The Booneville Lady Bearcat golf team opened its season Monday with a home match in which their five members accounted for eight of the golfers on the Cherokee Creek County Course.
Consequently, head coach Jake Fennell had the only full team contingent so they won the match with a score of 168. Riley Broussard (shown) led the way with a round of 50, which was the best round of the day by a female, topping her closest competitor by four strokes.
Kylie Lunsford and Anna Ferguson, both playing their first rounds as Lady Bearcats, shot a 59. Alisa Rogers and Mary Haynes were also competing.
The Lady Bearcats are next scheduled to play Thursday at Little Creek Country Club in Ratcliff in a match hosted by Charleston.
