The seventh grade Bearcats fell to Ozark in their season opener Thursday night at Bearcat Stadium, 22-8.
Cooper Smithson ran 55 yards for the touchdown in the second half of the game.
Wyatt Danekas, who had picked up a first down on the second of what would be a five-play drive, ran for the two-point conversion.
Smithson turned in a solid game, taking a reception from Drake Brackney (shown on the throw) for 18 yards in the first half and recording four solo tackles to lead the Bearcat defense.
Trevor Swain and Chase Posey also both had three solo tackles.
The Bearcats will now wait three weeks to play again, when they will travel to Hackett. Next week the junior high will play Russellville and the following week is an open date for both teams.
