The Booneville Junior High Bearcats dropped a 30-6 decision to Ozark Thursday night at Bearcat Stadium.
The Bearcats (1-1) scored their lone touchdown on a fourth-and-goal from the 2 with Sadler Miller just crossing the goal line midway through the final quarter.
Miller carried for a team high 32 yards in the game.
Including the touchdown, the Bearcats were perfect on fourth down attempts on the scoring drive.
Hayden Daniel (shown on a kickoff return) picked up eight yards on a fourth-and-3 to get the ball to the Ozark 9-yard line and Tayden Washburn had gotten five to move the ball to the Ozark 24, also on a fourth-and-3.
The game had started promising for the Bearcats as Brody Chambers carried for a first down and Washburn followed that up with a seven yard pickup but the Bearcats would eventually punt and Ozark built a 24-0 lead by halftime.
The Bearcats will be home again next Thursday taking on Class 6A Russellville at 7 p.m. The game will follow a game between Russellville’s and Bryant’s eighth grade teams with both games at Bearcat Stadium.
