If you venture out to Bearcat Stadium for tonight’s Junior High Bearcat game against Russellville you could experience somewhat of a twilight zone moment.
That is not because of the oddity that there will be a Class 3A team set to take on a Class 6A school, but rather because at 5:30, when the Bearcat seventh grade team would typically be playing, there will be a game in progress between the Russellville and Class 7A Bryant eighth grade teams.
When the Bearcats and Whirlwinds played in Russellville last year they did so after the Russellville-Bryant eighth graders had played at Cyclone Stadium, and athletic director Josh Walker agreed the two could play at Bearcat Stadium since there was no seventh grade game scheduled.
The Bryant-Russellville eighth grade game starts a two-day period of the Bearcat representatives being, by far, the smaller of the teams to tee it up at the stadium this weekend as after tonight’s games, the senior high Bearcats will host Class 5A Camden Fairview tomorrow for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
