Lady Bearcat Runner-Up In Golf District; Two Bearcats Also State Qualified

The Booneville Lady Bearcat golf team finished as the District 3A-4 tournament, held yesterday at the Booneville Golf Course and qualifies for the state tournament.

Senior, but first year golfer Kylie Lunsford (shown) shot a team best 115 in the only 18-hole tournament she played all season.

Anna Ferguson and Riley Broussard completed the team score with Alisa Rogers the fourth Lady Bearcat to play the course.

The Class 3A girls state tournament will be hosted by Melbourne at Cooper’s Hawk on September 26.

In boys play the Bearcats had a team score of 266 for fourth place in the field that featured eight full teams and representation from two other schools.

Senior Rylen Ray shot the best round by a Bearcat with an 82 , which was the fourth best overall and qualified for the state tournament.

In addition to the top two teams qualifying for the state round, there are five invitations extended to the individuals with the best five scores who are not automatic qualfiieirs.

Ray will have company as Bearcat junior Jace Washburn shot an 86 to land one of the spots.

Bryce Eaves shot a 98 to complete the team score and Noah Harrel was the fourth Bearcat to play the tournament.

The Class 3A boys state tournament will be hosted by Centerpoint at Glenwood Country Club on October 2.
