When Booneville and Hackett played a year ago they set a Booneville school record for most combined points in a game with 121 and the two offenses gained 1089 yards in doing so, just nine yards off of a combined team school record for the Bearcats.

Dax Goff was one of two 200-yard rushers for the Bearcats in that game – there was a third rusher with more than 100 yards – and Hackett quarterback Cole Ketchum threw for 436 yards and five touchdowns giving him 553 in two career games against the Bearcats. Ketchum played quarterback as a freshman in the playoff game.

Hackett is one of the four Conference 3A-1 teams to have a new head coach this season. Now in charge is Mason Wann.

MORE HISTORY: The 1973 Bearcat team is having a 50-year reunion tonight. Under Gene Bradley the 1973 Bearcats were the first team to win two playoff games and they started the season with six straight shutouts, a consecutive shutout game record that still stands. The 1973 Bearcats finished 10-2, marking the first 10-win campaign by Booneville since the 11-0 1953 team. Included was a 6-0 win over Van Buren with a flea flicker from Ricky Holcomb to Eddie Steele being the only points in the game. Two other games are of note. In the season finale against Paris, both teams were 8-1 and had clinched conference titles as Paris was in AA and the Bearcats in A. It was 14-12 at the half and stayed that way through the final. The other was the opening round playoff game against Atkins and Donnie Bobo. A double reverse pass, in a sudden death overtime won it, 22-14.
