The Bearcat and Lady Bearcat tennis teams took the courts on back to back days to start this week, sweeping sets against Paris at Marcelle Phillips City Park and sweeping singles matches in Dardanelle on Tuesday.

The doubles duo of Linley Garrett and Lexi Franklin also remained undefeated on the season heading into next week’s district tournament – the scheduled Thursday matches with Jessieville are canceled, head coach Katelyn Holub said.

Monday’s matches were largely lopsided with the females singles going to Angie Brown, twice by 6-0 sets, Raelynn Franklin in a 6-1 set.

Boys singles saw Noah Harrel win his set 6-0, Taylor Shaver win a pair of sets by 6-2 and 6-4, Daxton Bowman take a 6-2 set, and Gabe Draper win sets 6-1 and 3-1.

Garrett and Lexi Franklin and Mary Haynes and Raelynn Franklin both beat their doubles opponents 6-0, and Emma Ferguson and Harley Fitzjurls won a set as well, 6-2.

In boys doubles Wesley Fonseca and Aiden Carter (shown) took a set by a 6-1 score. In the closest set of the day Whit Kendall and Hunter Pollard edged their opposition, 6-5. Aayden Hill and Draper also swept their set, 6-0.

At Dardanelle Tuesday in what would be the only female singles match Brown won her set 6-0. Harrel and Kendall won their sets in the boys division, 6-4 and 6-1, respectively.

Garrett and Lexi Franklin won their set 6-3 and Brown paired with Haynes for a doubles set, taking a 6-2 win.

Dardanelle swept boys doubles and won a pair of girls set to earn a split.
