At one point in their 22-0 win over West Fork Thursday night at Bearcat Stadium, the Seventh Grade Bearcats had run one offensive play, but led 14-0.

That’s because Trevor Swain (22, shown on a tackle) had ended the first Tiger possession with a fourth down interception that he returned 57 yards for a touchdown.

An Edwin Garcia two-point conversion run made it 8-0.

After the Bearcats (2-1, 2-0 Conference 3A-1) forced a simulated punt they had the ball at their 45-yard line and Cooper Smithson went 55 yards on the first offensive play and it was 14-0.

The Bearcats got the ball back before halftime – Kyler Carter (66, also shown on the tackle) thought he had an interception but it was ruled incomplete but the Tigers were forced to punt.

After the punt, a 15-yard run from Smithson that would complete his 70-yard rushing night, and a 30-yard pass from Drake Brackney to Garcia but ran out of time before they could do more damage.

More damage was coming, however, as the Bearcats drove 70 yards with the opening possession of the second half – 37 of it coming on a pass from Brackney to Smithson – to a 7-yard scoring run by Brackney.

Garcia scored the extra two again, this time on a reception from Brackney and it was 22-0.

A lost fumble derailed the next Bearcat possession but the Bearcat defense would continue to keep a leash on the Tiger offense.

The Bearcats will next play at Greenland next Thursday. Simulated kickoff is set for 5:30.
