Head coach Chad Simpson said his Junior High Bearcats were hungry to play after an open date and a weather cancelation the last two weeks.
They would dig in early Thursday night at Bearcat Stadium.
The Bearcats (2-2, 1-0 Conference 3A-1) got touchdowns from fullback Brody Chambers and on their first two possessions and went on to a 30-6 win over West Fork.
After chambers made the tackle on the opening kickoff the Bearcats surrendered one first down but a third down sack by Braxton Hubble and Callen Montalvo preceded a Tayden Washburn interception he returned 17 yards to the Bearcat 36 yard-line.
From there it took eight plays for the Bearcats to break on top on a 4-yard run by Chambers.
The second possession began in the red zone because of an errant punt snap – a Kass DuPree sack had helped force the Tigers into punt formation – and the Bearcats needed only one play to score.
Chambers rumbled 19 yards and Hayden Daniel added a two-point conversion for a 14-0 lead with 5:32 left in the first half.
Another sack, this one by Maddox Crosby and Chambers, led to a Tiger punt that Daniel returned to the West Fork 48.
Washburn then hit Daniel for a touchdown and with a Chambers run for the extra two it was 22-0 with 2:47 to play in the half.
The Bearcats used time outs to force a punt and moved to the Tiger 15 but the final play of the half was a pass that was broken up.
It would be Washburn’s only incomplete throw on a 4-of-5 night for 72 yards.
Rylie Swint (shown) caught a pass from Washburn for 12 yards and later capped the first drive of the second half with a 4-yard scoring run and Washburn hit Caysen Lewis for a conversion and a 30-0 lead.
West Fork avoided being shut out with a touchdown pass with :06 to play.
The Bearcats are on the road next week at Greenland. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
