Two Bearcats qualified for the Class 3A state golf tournament as individuals due to their performance in the district tournament. The state tournament was held yesterday at Glenwood Country Club.
For Rylen Ray it was the fourth straight year he qualified – although he was unable to play last year – as either a winning or runner-up team member, or as an individual.
“Rylen struggled a bit with his midrange putting but hit a lot of long drives and wedges onto the green,” said head coach Jake Fennell.
Ray shot a 91 in his final event. Washburn shot a 93.
“I was really proud of them,” said Fennell. Jace actually started off 3-over through the first eight holes. A lot of the holes on the front nine are really tight, lined with trees. It’s easy to get into trouble.”
