Five games old, the Booneville versus Greenland series has never failed to produce big offensive numbers.
The five meetings have seen the Bearcats score no fewer than 41 points and average 52.6. Greenland was limited to 6 one season, but has an overall average of 21.2 themselves.
The 41 and 6 came in the same 2019 game so the combined 47 points is the fewest in the series. The most is the 96 (62-34 in 2018), with the other three all at least 70 and an overall average of 73.8 points per game.
Points usually mean yards and there has been no shortage of yardage either, especially in Greenland. Last year the teams combined for 923 yards and there were 850 yards in the 2018 game. There were 718 yards on October 31, 2003 in a game played in Bearcat Stadium.

TODAY IN BEARCAT FOOTBALL HISTORY: The Bearcats are 9-3 all time in games documented to have been played on October 6 with three big passing nights. On October 6, 1972 Ricky Holcomb threw for 127 yards and beat Mansfield 28-7 with the final score coming on a pass from Holcomb to Eddie Steele and lateral to Henry Phillips. On October 6, 1967 Johnny Williams threw for 137 yards and beat Mansfield 40-6 on a Homecoming night. On October 6, 2017 Brandon Ulmer and Evan Schlinker combined for a single game record 255 passing yards with Ulmer accounting for 229 and three touchdowns. Ethan Dobbs had 134 receiving in the 2017 game, a 41-2 win over Dover.
NOTES: With five sacks last week the Bearcat defense now has 10 on the season. Oddly they have come from nine different players with Rylen Ray the only one with two solos. Last week’s road shutout was the first in a game that was actually played (at Cedarville last year was a forfeit) since the 49-0 win in Atkins in 2021. Jace Washburn’s interception last week was the first of the season by a Bearcat. It was Washburn’s fourth career interception.
