Cooper Smithson scored three first half touchdowns to power the Seventh Grade Bearcats to a 26-0 lead in Greenland Thursday.
The Bearcats (3-1, 3-0 Conference 3A-1) allowed a couple of second half scores to the Pirates and settled for a 26-16 win, third straight.
Smithson carried three times on the opening drive of the night and scored the touchdown on a run of 13 yards for a 6-0 lead.
After a simulated Pirate punt Drake Brackney ran for 32 yards and Smithson got 27 on the next carry of a two-play drive and it was 14-0 after Smithson added a two-point conversion.
The third Bearcat possession would also last just two plays, both of these passes as Brackney connected with Wyatt Danekas for 26, then with Smithson for 31 and a touchdown to make it 20-0.
With 1:05 to play in the half the Bearcats had the ball again, and again Brackney went to the air, hitting Toby Weaver (shown) for 55 yards and a touchdown to make it 26-0.
That gave Brackney 112 yards on 3-of-4 passing and completed his night.
On their second possession of the second half Greenland ran 10 plays and scored. The Pirates then took advantage of a short field after a fumble and scored again on what would be the final play of the game.
The Pirates added an extra two after each score.
The Bearcats are home next week to face Mansfield. A simulated kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
